LBSC'S Ayesha |
Last year, following the Midlands Engineering Exhibition, I had Ayesha at home for a couple of months so took the opportunity to take some photographs. I thought people might be interested in them so here they are. When I get time I'll add a bit of the history of this famous 2½" gauge loco. If you're wondering why the boiler cladding is a different green to the rest I guess it got repainted when LBSC reboilered the loco and he probably didn't have any of the original colour! I don't know when Ayesha would have last steamed but LBSC died in 1967 and I doubt if she would have been run after that. Whether she will ever run again depends on the members of the National 2½" Gauge Association who now own her. I hope she does get to run again. LBSC would have hated for her to be sat in a glass case for the rest of her days.
